Dinner Meeting Presentation Abstract

Numerous studies have shown that emotional intelligence is a critical leadership competency. PMI-sponsored research has shown that emotional intelligence is more important to project managers than intellectual or managerial competency.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and manage our own emotions and those of others. When project managers understand emotional intelligence, they are more "with it", they are able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, they anticipate and harness the energy behind conflicts, and they improve their chance of project success.

This presentation will help participants to see the importance of emotional intelligence and to understand how to apply emotional intelligence to improve their soft skills and deal with typical issues that surface during projects.

Participant Benefits:

  • Understand a framework for applying emotional intelligence to project management
  • Learn techniques for anticipating and avoiding emotional breakdowns
  • Understand the importance of building strong relationships with team members and other stakeholders

FORUM INFORMATION

Presentation Abstract:

Professional organizations and companies provide opportunities for K-12 educators and students to learn and apply knowledge in real world experiences. Introducing a professional organization or company program in a K-12 environment can be cumbersome. Success comes with learning to make connections and learning communication methods that work best in an academic environment.

In this seminar you will learn about successful programs currently in place. A project management model will be introduced that can be applied at other K-12 schools in your area.
