Presentation Abstract
In the emerging Knowledge Age, being a successful
project leader is dependent on managing the coordination
of human beings and the commitments they make.
Today's project professionals must master new
concepts and tools that are grounded in linguistics
and acknowledge the fundamental role that conversation
plays in the work of leading project teams. This
is not merely a good idea for the sake of communicating
more clearly - it is imperative for improving the
effectiveness of human coordination.
In this presentation we will explore Terry Winograd
and Fernando Flores' unique concepts of work that
deal with the use of language to produce commitment
and action. We will also present new distinctions
of a commitment-based governance model that focuses
on promises to produce situations rather than traditional
compliance-based models that rely on completing
tasks. |
