What is a Poster?
A poster is a visual presentation that can be as large as 44 inches
wide and 44 inches high that is displayed at the symposium. With a title,
author and affiliation, text and illustrations (which can be photos,
drawings, diagrams, tables, figures), a poster is intended to make an
original contribution to attendees of the symposium in an area related
to project management.
During the morning and afternoon breaks on the day of the symposium,
the poster author will be present at the poster, and be able to present
and engage with poster attendees in further discussions about the topic
of the poster. This is a great way to have an informal exchange about
project management topics!
You will meet new people who share your interests and your contribution
will rev up both their skills and yours!
How to Submit a Poster
A poster author needs to submit the poster in its final format electronically
as part of the submission, review, and selection process
by April 10, 2007. If a poster consists of multiple smaller
displays the sequence must be clear from the electronic
submission.
What are Poster topics?
The key to a good poster is that it is real, relates
to Project Management in a unique, original, and practical
way. A recent project management breakthrough, accomplishment,
example of how a skill was developed, shared, or applied
and the benefits and challenges, lessons learned from
a specific project situation, are all possible types
of posters. One good idea that you think other PMs will
be interested in is plenty! Here are some same topics:
Global outsourcing project experiences
Managing timelines in critical projects
Importance of training in project management
Managing global workforce in projects
Managing multiple projects
Risk Management in mission critical projects
Effective Change Management
Contract Management
Project Management techniques - Dos and
Don'ts
What are the Physical Requirements of a Poster?
The poster must by a maximum of 44 inches
by 44 inches with a firm backing so it can rest on a
free-standing standard size easel. It must be a single
display. This can be accomplished by attaching 8.5 x
11-inch sheets to a foam board.
You will need to bring a hard copy of your
poster and the materials to attach it before the beginning
of the symposium on the day of the symposium.
The poster display must include the title
of the poster, the name, affiliation and e-mail address
of the author. If the author is a PMP, please include
that as part of the author's name.
Poster text should be legible for viewers
standing approximately 3 feet away.
No audiovisual equipment or power connections
will be provided for your poster display.
There is no table available associated
with your poster display.
Requirements to Submit a Poster
The poster content must be in English.
The content of the poster must be original
and not be planned for publication or presentation elsewhere
by the symposium date.
The content of the poster must have project
management and symposium theme value as judged by the
Symposium Poster Team and cannot be a direct advertisement
for a company or a product. Companies seeking visibility
for their products and services that may be of interest
to symposium attendees should consider being a vendor
at the event. See the Symposium Vendor page for information.
The deadline to submit a poster is April
10, 2007.
You must submit your poster electronically
to symposium
@pmiglc.org
In addition, your submission must include
the title, your full name, whether you are a PMP, your
PMI membership number, your company or organization (if
appropriate), your mailing address, your day-time phone
number, and your e-mail address.
You must be a member of the PMI to submit
a poster.
You must register for the symposium before
you submit a poster.
By submitting you are agreeing to bring
your poster to the symposium, put it up, attend it during
specified breaks on the day of the symposium, attend
the poster award ceremony and take it down at the end
of the symposium. By submitting you are indicating that
you give permission, on your own behalf or you have permission
from your company (if needed), to present the material
and to have it accessible on the symposium web site after
the event.
Incomplete and late submissions, or submissions
that do not meet the requirements, will not be reviewed.
What to Expect after Submitting your Poster?
The Symposium Poster Team will acknowledge
receipt of your submission via e -mail.
The Symposium Poster Team will review all
poster submissions and select the final poster for the
event. You will be notified via e -mail by the Poster
Team Lead whether your submission has been accepted as
is, accepted conditionally, with specific change requests,
or rejected.
If you were conditionally accepted and
successfully resubmitted a revised poster, you will receive
final confirmation of your poster acceptance by April
18, 2007.
The decision of the Symposium Poster Team
is final.
Accepted posters will have a member of
the Symposium Poster Team assigned as a poster angel
to assist you getting ready for the symposium and on
the day of the event. After acceptance, all communication
about your poster should be through your poster angel.
On the day of the symposium, you should
be prepared to put up your poster before the start of
the first session.
Please be available at your poster during
the specified break times and have as much interaction
as you can with poster attendees. You may hand out business
cards or additional handouts related to your poster to
attendees if you wish.
