Project Management as a Strategic Competency

The 20th century brought organizational management of routine operations to a high
level. But executing change in an increasingly fast-paced and competitive world
remained a challenge – one that project management has evolved to meet. This
presentation emphasizes that project management is a profession distinct from “management
in general,” and gives examples of organizations that are aligning their projects
and programs with strategic goals.

PMI Board of Directors Election Open through
20 September
The annual
PMI Board of Directors election opened on 8 August 2011 and will run through 5 PM
EDT on September 20. Voting is open to all PMI members in good standing as of 31
May 2011. A link to the secure election site was delivered electronically to all
eligible members on Monday, 8 August. All ballots are being delivered electronically
this year.
