Leaders' Corner

Message from the Chapter President

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish happy new year and welcome you to the PMI Great Lakes Chapter!

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce the members of the 2012 Board of Directors:

• Rose Tyler - President-Elect
• Mira Kukla - Past President
• Thagu Vivek - Vice President, Administration
• Biju Jacob - Vice President, Communications
• Neil Goldman - Vice President, Finance
• Sanjay Kumar - Vice President, Membership
• Lisa Foster - Vice President, Outreach
• Dennis Calopisis - Vice President, Professional Development
• Surya Prakash - Vice President, Programs

2011 was a successful year with PMI-GLC awarded the PMI Community Award for Volunteer Program. Building upon the past successes, we are very enthusiastic about the professional development events and programs planned for 2012. This year's annual spring symposium is being held in Novi on 24 April at Suburban Showplace. The symposium theme is "Project Management - Leveraging Technology to Drive Success in a Complex Global Environment." We expect to offer quality speakers and great professional networking opportunities.

Apart from our monthly dinner meetings and forums, this year we are planning a career focused Professional Development Day and new agile certification training (PMI-ACP) classes. Our members will continue to have opportunities to earn PDUs to maintain their certification while we work on introducing webinars.

I encourage each of you to check your e-mail and our chapter website frequently to obtain the latest news, information and upcoming events offered by the chapter. Participate and get involved in your chapter. By supporting chapter events, you are showing your commitment to professional growth and the continued prominence of project management as a preferred career path.

Thank you.

Kulveer Virk, PMI GLC President
