From the President's Desk….

The 2008 PMI GLC Membership Campaign is in progress, with a goal of increasing membership by 300 new members. PMI GLC is a non-profit organization that provides many events to enhance career development and improve skills and qualifications in the project management profession.

The benefits of chapter membership are many. The chapter offers highly successful classes for PMP certification, low cost PDUs for PMPs, access to national and local job boards, networking opportunities with area project managers, monthly newsletters and over 40 events each year to expand your project management skills. We hope non-members will consider joining the Great Lakes Chapter for a low membership fee of $20 and start saving on events with member discounts.

To better serve and provide value in the community, PMI GLC Committee volunteers have planned several upcoming events and activities focused on a broad variety of topics suited for various phases of your career! These events are an excellent opportunity for low cost continuing education that provides PDU credits toward re-certification. Topics presented are appropriate for the interests of new project managers, PMPs, senior project managers and those involved with Program/Portfolio Management. There are opportunities for project managers at all levels of experience. All of this is provided at a lower cost for chapter members. Compare the cost, and then come join us for an event! Once you see the value, you will be happy you are a member of PMI GLC.

This years event, entitled "Diversity: A Successful Approach", offers an exciting agenda featuring two renowned keynote speakers, three breakout sessions, and poster presentations. The event starts at 7 AM so breakfast, lunch, and all day refreshments are included.

Breakout sessions will follow both keynote addresses. Attendees will be able to choose from a vast array of 12 topics featuring 15 scheduled speakers on diversification that range from intermediate to advanced levels. Poster presentations will be delivered by local members who are encouraged to share information that aligns with project practices as defined in the PMBOK Guide.
