October 2007 PMI- Great Lakes Chapter Newsletter Newsletter Editor: Danny Miller ---------------------------------------- PMI-GLC Message from the President ---------------------------------------- Dear Members: 2007-2008 PMIGLC Elections As members of PMIGLC, you recently received information about voting for 2008 PMIGLC Board of Directors (BoD).  I urge you to participate in the online voting process that you will be provided during September for voting during October. For your information: During 2006, the BoD implemented a succession plan to provide for continuity in VP and President positions.  The transition plan resulted in updated Chapter Bylaws posted on the PMIGLC Website.  Highlights included term limits and eligibility guidelines for candidates.  This provides the BoD the benefit of retaining the experience of 3-4 VPs each year, while 3-4 new VPs become established. Each year, within the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee (EC) selects a President Elect, who then succeeds to President, and Past President.  Eligibility for President Elect candidates includes being a member of the present EC and being elected to a VP position by PMIGLC Members within the last 3 years.  For 2007, the President Elect position became vacant during June.  To provide for position continuity and continued service to PMIGLC members, the BoD agreed to extend the President Elect position from a partial ’07 year to a ’07-’08 position year; and requested/approved the President position and incumbent be extended through 2008. Please join the Executive Committee in congratulating Arun Das as President Elect for 2007-2008. PMIGLC – Open House and Member Orientation2007 The 2007 PMIGLC Open House was a wonderful success.  Over 145 attendees enjoyed the opportunity for networking and for listening to Stephen Czerniak’s presentation “Building Communications in the Business World.”  Also offered for the first time was the first Member Orientation, included to provide new members and not-so-new members a better understanding of PMIGLC, the purpose, events and activities offered by the chapter, which include over 3,300 attendees annually.  The chapter seeks to provide members value through a variety of services and events which offer low cost high-quality training that also serve as a means of earning PDU credits toward recertification.  Events include Dinner Meetings/Speakers, Forums, Annual Symposium, Seminars, and Outreach Round Table discussions.  Please recognize the many PMIGLC volunteers who offer their time to make all of these events successful experiences for members. NOTE: Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and seating is limited to 35 people.  There is no guarantee that if you register for the first session in October that you are guaranteed a seat in the second session in November.
