Join PMI and the Great Lakes Chapter

The easiest way to join both PMI and the Great Lakes Chapter is online at www.pmi.org. Once there, click on "Membership". When the "Become A PMI Member Today" site comes up, click on "Apply for Membership". Follow the online instructions pertaining to the membership you wish to obtain. They accept most major credit cards online.

 

Update your contact information if you are a member (address, phone, email)

If you are currently a PMI member, you can update your demographic information on the PMI website (www.pmi.org) by visiting the Members-only section and entering your PMI member ID number and a system assigned password mailed to you in September, 2000 (or when you joined, if you joined after that date). If you need more information to make this work, call PMI at the phone number found on their website.

Certification

Earning the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of project management principles and concepts to employers, team members, peers, and stakeholders. For additional educational opportunities, search the online database of PMI recognized Registered Education Providers and the online list of academic institutions offering degrees in project management.

 

Publications

Members receive subscriptions to PMI’s periodical publications. Take advantage of the wealth of information sent to you in the monthly issues of PM Network®, PMI’s sought-after professional magazine; quarterly issues of the Project Management Journal®; and PMI Today®, the monthly newsletter of the Project Management Institute.

Members also receive discounts on professional books, training tools and resources available through PMI’s online bookstore.

 

Professional Development

Members have the opportunity to network with other individuals in project management, share ideas and experiences, access industry information, attend seminars and workshops and socialize with peers by joining PMI’s component organizations. PMI has three types of component organizations, Chapters, Specific Interest Groups (SIGs) and Colleges. Chapters are geographic-based components and number over 200 worldwide. SIGs provide members access to peers in similar industries or areas of interest. Colleges help further develop and refine a formal body of knowledge related to project management.

PMI’s Annual Seminars and Symposium, the world’s premiere project management event, is a must-attend event for knowledge sharing, networking with peers, professional development and career advancement. PMI members who attend benefit from discounted rates.

 

Career Resources

PMI members can post their résumés, free of charge, in the online CareerLink Directory, where employers look to fill their project management positions. There is also an online list of positions available that can be accessed by individuals seeking employment opportunities.

As members, employers can take advantage of discounted rates for job postings and searches of the CareerLink Directory of PMI members seeking employment opportunities.

 

Professional Recognition

PMI’s Professional Awards Program honors individuals for outstanding service to PMI and the project management profession. PMI members who meet the specific award criteria, may be eligible to receive awards that recognize sustained and significant contributions to the profession and to the Project Management Institute.
