PMP Review - Course Description

Project Management Institute - Great Lakes Chapter (PMIGLC) offers a PMP Review course. The objective of this course is to provide an awareness of the knowledge needed to pass the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification exam and thereby help project managers make the most effective use of their time in studying for the exam, which is given by the international organization PMI.

Participants gain insight to the level of competency required to pass the exam through a review of material adapted from the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge and additional reference material provided specifically for the course, including practice questions that simulate the PMP exam and provide familiarity with the format of actual exam questions. This course provides 42 contact hours of education in support of PMI's education requirement.

Attendees are expected to obtain for themselves a copy of the "Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, 4th Ed." which is available from the PMI bookstore at http://www.pmi.org/ It is also useful to obtain from PMI a copy of the "Certification Handbook" which lists the requirements a person must meet in order to sit for the examination, as it is not open to the public at large.

The CAPM credential candidate contributes to a project team as a subject matter expert and may also serve as a sponsor, facilitator, liaison, or coordinator. These project team members assume full or partial responsibility for individual project tasks in their areas of expertise (e.g., finance, marketing, legal), which may not be industry-specific, but relevant across many functional areas and industries.
